There are a few events in life that as soon as they end, everyone begins the countdown until their next arrival. One example is Christams – another is football season! We have all talked about camps, coaching changes, and preseason play, but tonight it’s official. The 2011 High School football season begins!
The Brentwood Bruins will head to Cookeville where they will face an unfamiliar opponent, the Cavaliers, for the season opener. The Bruins and the Cavaliers have never played each other and should make for a great season opener, both winning their districts in 2010. Pregame begins at 7:00pm and kickoff is for 7:30. The game will be televised on WXUP Channel 30 and Comcast Channel 236.

Different areas in our country immediately come to mind when thinking of hot spots for producing top notch athletes. Although Williamson County is not one of the large counties like those in California, Texas, or Florida, it has produced youth athletes that are making their mark in National competition. Last week, athletes from the Williamson County Track Club competed in New Orleans, Louisiana at the AAU Junior Olympics. Joseph Emanaul Hall, a Franklin, TN resident took two gold medals along with his brother Chaz Hawkins who won one of his own.
Also, in the swimming world, Nashville Aquatic Club had several Williamson County athletes to rank in the USA Swimmers Top 10. recently.
Williamson County might not have the number of athletes as some larger counties, but there is definitely no lack of talent being produced here!
